Cholera survivors in Nasarawa State are joyous after winning the battle against cholera which had affected at least 800 people and claimed 51 lives across the 13 Local Government Areas in the state.that he was lucky to have survived the disease. Abdullahi, who became emotional while speaking with our correspondent said he didn’t know how he got infected with the disease as he practised personal hygiene and always had potable water.
“It was really serious because I drastically lost weight and I never knew that I would survive the sickness but I kept praying to God to help me to recover. I am happy that I am alive today but I will never wish that anyone should experience what I went through.’’ “At the time I was informed that I had cholera, I did not have money on hand or even in my bank account. I had to appeal to some family members and friends who came to my aid and I was able to pay for the bill which was around N18, 000. I’m calling on residents of the state to always take hygiene seriously because not everyone will be lucky to survive from the disease. I was only lucky to be alive, “he added.
Another survivor, a 47-year-old community health worker at the Primary Healthcare Centre, Angwan Mallam Sabo in Lafia, Lubabatu Abubakar, said she started having cholera symptoms when she suddenly started vomiting after lunch on Tuesday but didn’t know that she had the disease.
If nothing happens people wont take precautions. Now you are here to advice your dirty and careless pars. Congrats that you made it.
Regular washing of hands can save us from a lot of germs.
