A statement by his media office on Sunday, titled, ‘Omo-Agege calls for peace in Isoko’, indicated that the DSP was shocked and saddened by the situation, which led to the death of nine persons, including a child.
The statement explained that Omo-Agege believed that the situation demanded urgent and pragmatic efforts to prevent further bloodletting. He said, “Respected political, traditional, religious, women and youth leaders within and without Isoko need to preach restraint, de-escalate the situation and help to quickly restore genuine peace to the land.”
He also noted that it was by divine order that Isoko and Urhobo are historical good neighbours with strong filial, marital and lingual affinities.Omo-Agege urged the Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and his team, to work diligently to ensure that acts capable of leading to more bloodshed or violence were responsibly, urgently and sustainably curtailed. All rights reserved.
