Okowa eulogised the Edo chief executive for his patriotic and unrelenting service to his state and the nation. In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu, in Asaba, the Delta governor said Obaseki had provided purposeful, courageous and tenacious leadership for the people of Edo State in the last three years.

He beseeched God to grant the celebrant long life, good health and wisdom in his service to Edo people and Nigeria in general.
