The family of Mr. Gbenga Owolabi, the hotelier murdered by abductors last week, yesterday, denied rumour of arrest of its members in connection with the incident.

According to the family, the rumour of the arrest was an attempt to divert attention of the public from the truth of the matter.

The family made this known while reacting to a rumour that a member of the family, Femi Owolabi had been arrested. Elder brother of the deceased, Mr. Ayo Owolabi, who spoke on behalf of the family, insisted that they had no sibling with the name of Femi Owolabi. He added that no family member was arrested in connection with the kidnap and murder of his brother, Gbenga. “You can tell that to the marines,” he said.

Another close relative of the family, who asked not to be named, said the story was planted to divert attention.Recall that the hotelier and one member of staff were kidnapped at Abaa area in Ogbomoso town and killed on Thursday, July 28, after ransom was paid to the abductors.
