A former governor of Old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo, has tackled some governors over the forceful takeover of the residents’ land in their states.

He called on governors and those in political positions to use their offices to make the lives of the people who voted them into power better, explaining that the positions they occupy were temporary.

Nwobodo said the issue of land-grabbing by governors in their various states should not be taken as a political game. “What manner of centenary city? It is not fair. I gave out only 318 hectares and you have now increased it to 1,097 hectares. It is bad,” he said.He said, “The power of the governor is temporary. When you are being sworn in, you think the world is now at your feet. One day, it will end and you will become an ordinary person and when you steal their money, when they see you on the way, they will say this is the man who stole our money.

“You should use it for helping the poor, the people who voted you into power. Make sure you build factories for them, build schools for them.”
