NUJ threatens boycott of police activities over invasion of Adamawa Press Centre

The NUJ gave the Police Command three days to offer unreserved apology for their actions or face total blackout.

Operatives of the Police Command had as part of the ongoing lock down in Adamawa State, stormed the Press Centre Thursday evening and whisked away a number of people from the centre.

“The two said officers are a threat to journalists and demonstrate open opposition to the activities of journalism in Adamawa State.” The statement, signed by the state NUJ Chairman, Ishaka Dedan and Secretary, Fidelis Jokthan, vowed that no amount of intimidation or harassment by security operatives will make journalists abandon the Press Centre “which serves as the Secretariat and Situation Room for COVID-19 for all practising journalists in Adamawa State.”
