The Chairman of the National Population Commission, Nasir Kwarra, has announced that the second phase of the pre-test exercise in preparation for the forthcoming National Population and Housing Census will commence today .

The NPC had during the commencement of the first phase in June disclosed that the national population census might be conducted in 2022. The chairman explained that the pre-test exercise involved “testing the census methodology, the questionnaires, data collection methods, the manuals for field staff, instruction manuals, data editing and coding, data processing and tabulation in preparation for the actual census.”

The NPC chairman revealed that the inability of the commission to demarcate the two outstanding local government areas in Borno and Kaduna states was as a result of severe security challenges being witnessed in those areas.
