Students from the 19 Northern states of Nigeria have staged a protest in Jalingo, Taraba State, over the ongoing industrial action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities .
Gimba bemoaned the high spate of kidnapping and banditry activities in the region, accusing the government of making life miserable for students by compounding their woes with the lingering ASUU strike. “These same people in government have once been students. These people have enjoyed free education in the past. They are the same people that call themselves our parents. If they will not listen to the plea of our lecturers, why won’t they listen to the plea of the Nigerian students?
ASUU had embarked on a four-week warning strike on February 14 to press home its demands, with the prominent ones being the renegotiation of the ASUU/FG 2009 agreement and the sustainability of the university autonomy by deploying UTAS to replace the government-imposed IPPIS.
Nigstudentsblog we must start a hash tag now & match it with action. The strike must be call off. We must give timeline to govt & ASSU to do the needful. WEMUSTGOBACKTOSCHOOL. The govt are taking the students for a fool. The youths make up 58% of Nigerian population.
The students yet start now. We must give govt timeline to call of the strike. The youths have the numbers, we have the strength & tenacity to make this happen. We must take responsibility of our future together. WEMUSTGOBACKTOSCHOOL. We must take responsibility now.
Nigerian youths should give federal govt 2 weeks to settle ASSU so that they can return to school & if they fail, there should be total protest all over the nation. The students in Nigeria make up 46% of Nigerian population, I wonder why they can't bring the govt to their kneel
An now day break. I thought the Northern youths signed an undertaking not to protest in any form. Hence they didn't partake in the end sars 2 years ago. Small small every one will feel the pain of bad governance.
Nice one
'Sell-outs!! Wailers, PDP has bribed them to sabotage the good work Baba has done for past 7 years'
So they finally realized that ASUU is still on strike? All these while, I thought protest is against their religion 😏😏😏.
Many northerns prefer not to even go to school anymore, school is just like a Borden for everyone in North, they preferred selling kola nut or killing suya.
Nigerian students in the north should make it a month protest. And ensure to see the opportunity to open their mind and wake up from mental slavery.
They are Nigerian students in Taraba n not Northern students
Who send them
Is there no other way ASUU can channel their grievances to FG other than going on strike, for the sake of the students?
