The Chairman, Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Danjuma Saleh, on Wednesday said the failure of the state government to

pay the gratuities of retired workers in the state has been giving the leadership of organised labour sleepless nights.

The failure of the state government to pay outstanding gratuities of affected retirees, according to the NLC chairman, had subjected them to untold hardship. Saleh also appealed to the state government to immediately, without any further delays, address the pending issue of consequential adjustment of salary of officers on Grade Level 07 and above.

Speaking on the suspended planned protest over the proposed fuel subsidy removal, Comrade Saleh said that the Federal Government decided to extend the implementation of subsidy at the time the organised labour was at the last lap of its preparations for the nationwide protest.
