A former deputy governor of Lagos State, Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu, has decried the under-perfomance of the National Orientation Agency, which she said had not done enough to enlighten the masses. The 164-page book, which was authored by Kabir Bakare, featured 10 chapters featuring topics on some harmful traditional practices in Africa, the caste system, xenophobia, genocide, colonisation, slavery, apartheid, racism, and the fight for civil rights.

In an interview with our correspondent, Ojikutu said, “The social crises rocking the country at the moment can be eradicated through the strong will of our leaders and the people. The information system in Nigeria is very poor and the National Orientation Agency is not being used as it should be to enlighten the masses on how to get things done.”

Bakare, while speaking about his book, said, “The culture of silence has influenced the reporting of cases like gender-based violence. There ought to be serious punishment for offenders and the victims have to be supported mentally and emotionally. The cultural orientation has to change and the government has a very big role in advocating for this change.”All rights reserved.

You hike prices of cooking gas, kerosene and give terrorists charge over forests in Sambisa, Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, Niger and other places. How does this country want citizens to survive? Evil people everywhere. Why always south? Why not go to Kano to seize their wares if they will not burn down your office. I don't know what you are proud of when terrorists are busy smuggling in guns and other dangerous weapons up north.
