No punishment too harsh for rapists – MSSN

The Amirah of the MSSN in Lagos State, Basheeroh Majekodunmi, made this known in a press statement to condemn the rape and killing of undergraduates in Nigeria.

She lamented the rape and murder of 18-year-old Barakat Bello, a student of the Department of Science Laboratory Technology, Federal College of Animal Health and Production, Moor Plantation, Ibadan on Monday.She expressed worry that Barakat’s killing came a few days after the gruesome rape and killing of Uwavera Omozuwa, a 22-year-old Microbiology student of the University of Benin inside the Redeemed Christian Church of God parish at Ikpoba Hill, Edo, by unknown assailants.

“Government and its agencies must protect all women from various forms of oppression they go through. All avoidable emotional traumas being inflicted on our girls must be stopped forthwith. Also, the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria, Oyo State chapter in a statement on Thursday, called for a thorough investigation and arrest of the perpetrators of all cases of rape and other violent abuse of girls and women in Nigeria.

Beyond the call for punishment for rapists, it is very much imperative that we all take measures to protect girls and women. It seems now that rapists fear of the punishment have made them to also resort to murder their victims to cover their heinous act.

What of false accusations

I do absolutely agree with this content but my problem with nigerian law plus lawmakers is that how much laws regarding to murder, bandits, army robbery, kidnapping etc have been attained not to talk of rape! istandwithharsepunishment

This is where data base plays a huge role. With the finger print on the victim alone, the culprits will be brought to book... No punishment is too harsh for rapist. cos this is becoming a norms in this country. IT HAS TO STOP

What leads to raping,,this is just an observation,i think raping is rampant now because of the bad economy we are in.imagine a graduate without work,who drink and smoke all around will have nothing else to think of than to do the wrong,imagine a world with good economy.
