An international human rights organisation, Mercy Corps, has said Nigerians should continue to work towards peace because its existence as a country remained very important to the world.

The Country Director of MC, Ndubisi Anyanwu, said this in an interview with THE PUNCH, while sharing the evaluation of its findings of the third phase of its five years North East Conflict Management and Stabilisation programme. According to him, the pre-implementation assessment of the programme observed deep tensions “from social and political conflicts within local communities, including inter-ethnic, intergenerational, and IDP-host community conflicts, resulting in economic exclusion.”

Anyanwu said, “Well, I can’t see the future; but from where I see it and where Mercy Corps sees it, I think Nigerians have continue to work towards peace. “I think, this is a country that is very important to the world. We will continue to work for peace, work with the government to ensure lasting peace in Nigeria.”
