Poet laureate, Prof. Niyi Osundare, has said Nigeria’s underdevelopment is no surprise because the citizens don’t seem to possess the mindset, vision, values, behaviour, actions, and practices of a people who understand what development is.
The don spoke in a statement sent via email to our correspondent on Friday titled, “Nigeria’s holy romance with ignorance.’’ The literary critic added that the more college degrees Nigerians acquire; the farther they tend to be from rational, independent thinking, critical cogitation, clarity of thought, and creative skepticism.
