Nigeria recorded its highest inflation rate in four years, NBS report revealed on April 15, 2021,Nigeria’s inflation rate has continued to rise as the Consumer Price Index which measures inflation increased to 18.17 per cent in March.
Increases were recorded in all Classification of Individual Consumption by Purpose divisions that yielded the Headline index, the report said. The rural inflation rate, on the other hand, now stood at 17.60 per cent in March 2021 from the 16.77 per cent reported last month. The agency noted that this was higher than the 14.66 per cent reported in February, while the corresponding rural inflation rate in March was 13.99 per cent compared to 13.48 percent recorded in February.It revealed that the composite food index rose to 22.95 per cent in March compared to 21.79 per cent in February.
