The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has asked the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Nigerian government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to extend the February 10 deadline for the circulation of the old naira notes. This call is coming barely an hour after the Supreme Court gave a restraining order to stop the Nigerian Government and Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) from enforcing the deadline. The IMF, in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday by Laraba Bonet, hinged its plea on the hardship Nigerians were going through.

This call is coming barely an hour after the Supreme Court gave a restraining order to stop the Nigerian Government and Central Bank of Nigeria from enforcing the deadline. It said: “in light of hardships caused by disruptions to trade and payments due to the shortage of new bank notes available to the public, in spite of measures introduced by the CBN to mitigate the challenges in the banknote swap process, the IMF encourages the CBN to consider extending the deadline should problems persist in the next few days leading up to the February 10, 2023 deadline”.

This is the more reason why this deadline should stand. The IMF is a band of imperialistic criminals whose main agenda is to pocket the nations of the world and economically manipulate them however they want. The deadline should stand. IMF doesn't mean well.

Who is this he/she goat from IMF keep quiet and face ur work

Why didn't IMF ask India to extend their Deadline when they changed theirs within few hrs? This same IMF that borrows money to Looters to Loot, so Nigerians can remain in bondage is just trying to encourage vote buying by incompetent Thieves. But the fact is, we're VoTing LP...

Lawyer, Jiti Ogunye Lambasts Nigerian Central Bank, Demands Extension Of Deadline For Old Notes By Six Months | Sahara ReportersA legal practitioner based in Lagos State, Jiti Ogunye has asked the Nigerian Central Bank to extend the suspension of old Naira notes by six months. The CBN has fixed February 10 as the new deadline for the swap of old naira notes, having initially fixed January 31 as the deadline. Many Nigerians are currently unable to obtain the new N200, N500, and N1,000 notes, resulting in scarcity and attendant suffering in the country. Commenting on this in a series of tweets on Monday morning, Jiti Ogunye described the policy as heartless. Extension is not the issue here The people have put all their savings there, unless the people gets the new notes or their old notes back there is no solving this. Why are they acting like they don’t know exactly what they’re supposed to do Oniranu..... Thunder wey dey do warm up dey wait to fire you
