N5.5bn cars: Senate leader, Yahaya Abdullahi blows hot, says public outrage an insult

Senate Leader, Yahaya Abdullahi, has described the controversy trailing the National Assembly’s planned purchase of sports utility vehicles amounting to N5.5bn for federal lawmakers as an insult. The Senator said the burden on the shoulder of the Senator was not a small task and that a sport utility vehicle for their work was not too much.

According to him, “What is the problem there? It is an insult to say that a Senator of the Federal Republic cannot ride a jeep in Nigeria. It is an insult. “The N5.5bn is from the National Assembly fund and it is budgeted for every year which they will pay back at the end of the tenure. “I was a permanent secretary. I know what ministers get, we cannot even compare ourselves to ministers because we are higher than the minister.

“For you to say that a Senator of the Federal Republic cannot drive a jeep today, come on, that is an insult.“The weight that is on me today, there is no minister of the Federal Republic that has it,” he stated.

Public has the right to protest against reckless spending of their money. It's our tax.

What is the work of senators in the country sef🤔

You lot are just self serving selfish people. U don’t care & out of touch with the electorates. We blame ourselves for voting U lot back. So with the undisclosed salary U earn, U can’t buy your SUV. The difference with the western world is they care about their citizens.

Buharists thought bukolasaraki was the problem. What has changed since Bubu singlehandedly installed this NASS leadership? Absolutely nothing & until the poor masses realise that this selfish Nigerian political class is united in robbing our patrimony, we'll never make progress.

Idiot we know already you are after your pocket

Let them resigned from Senate

God punish yhu there

I don't blame you anyway , I blame those who brought this entity together.if a senator can say this openly then we lost it . Nigeria of blessed memory
