The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has advised his fellow governors to diversify the revenue base of their states from sole dependence on federal allocation.

This was as he advised the Federal Government to begin to pay attention to the manufacturing sector for revenue generation, rather than continue to depend on crude oil.

He was said to have been represented by his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, at the FAAC retreat with the theme, “Efficient Federation Revenue Allocation as a Nexus for National Economic Diversification.” However, he made a case for “a new, fair and just revenue-sharing formula for federating units to achieve a meaningful diversification and sustainable growth in their IGR.”

Good idea

Somw local government chairpersons seats on their Internal Revenue

This man needs to be enlighten, Lagos has never be depending on the Federal allocation. Didn't he's father tell him that he run Lagos without federal government allocation for some years

Dear sir, please hold it .... Some state are not sef sufficient like Lagos hence depends on FG but the issue is why were they created in the first place . Some states needs to merge together to achieve success or better still we result to the regional system of governance

Mr. Governor jidesanwoolu apart from lagosstategov that generate rate income through legal and unconstitutional means, other states dare not because their citizens or populace are in poverty. They won’t want to kill them by imposing on unnecessary tax system on them.

Bcos there is so much IGR in his state.

On a lighter mode, Lagos can stop collecting allocations. Not by force ooo. Lol. But your point is awesomely clear, depending on Fed Allocation won't last forever. But without restructuring, your point won't work.

You have no highlights at all since you were sworn in...

You think every state is rich like Lagos abi... 😒

I didn't support what my governor is saying cos u can not compare any other state with lagos state

we should even stop dependence on federal government altogether. nansence

Let those whose bread has been buttered by benevolent gods learn to be humble na. Would you had said the same if you were the govr of Kogi or Zamfara states? How does this related to the pains you are inflicting on Lagosians by way of ‘Okada bam?

If you like go and be taxing everything you see in sight on Lagos road, we will wait for you in your 2nd term bid.

Does jidesanwoolu knows 27 out of 36 States of the federation are technically and financially unviable ? The 27 States combined IGR is not up to what followlasg makes. jidesanwoolu should produce practical blueprint to achieve this.

Is this suggestion constitutional going by the fact that the constitution provides sharing formula? Does he mean to say that states should seek means to augment their Federal allocation or because he simply wants to increase the share of those who are sharing it at Federal level?

Doing this at the expense of the poor masses is a crooked way of making history

I think he is ryt Sometimes u accept the truth even if it is ur enemy that tels u

They now what is right but they just don't do it.

Sharap there.. Sharap.. By banning Okada na

He wants to ban Federal government allocation too?
