The Lagos State government has started removing four roundabouts in Ikotun, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Allen Avenue and Maryland to pave way for road expansion and free flow of traffic.

“The planning is what takes time but the execution is very fast so once we work 24 hours, we would soon complete it. I’m confident that the roads will be opened in April,” he said. “The junctions have outlasted their usefulness because they can’t cope with the demand that we experience everyday. So by taking out the roundabouts, we increase the capacity and we can have more cars come through the junctions. The removal of the roundabout will increase the capacity of the junctions and accommodate more vehicles on those routes.“We are not just removing the roundabouts, we are expanding the roads so that we can have more lanes to reduce traffic gridlock,” he said.
