Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has been urged to take effective measures to stop the increasing rate of child defilement, rape and all forms of gender-based violence in the state.
The appeal was made by the Chairperson of Lagos State chapter of the International Federation of Women Lawyers , Mrs. Phil Nneji, in a letter it delivered to the governor during the association’s campaign rally at the Governor’s Office, Alausa, Ikeja. Mrs. Nneji stressed the need for a strong synergy between the government and women’s group to rid the state of the dastardly acts among the youth and elderly in the society.The Public Relations Officer of FIDA, Mrs. Abimbola Jack-Oladugba, also appealed for an open door policy with the office of the First Lady, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu.
She said this had become necessary to enable FIDA access assistance from her office in respect of cases relating to the vulnerable and indigent women, girls and the underaged in the state.
