No fewer than 680 Almajirai were repatriated from Kano, Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe and Niger States into Kaduna, according to the state Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Hafsat Baba.
The governor while expressing his joy in a post on his Facebook page on Monday said the Almajirai were being restored full human rights as children and added that every child in Kaduna has equal opportunity and access to 12 years of Free and Compulsory Education. According to the governor, the next step is for the Commissioner of Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Hafsat Baba and her team to return the Almajirai to their parents in collaboration with Local Government Chairmen and Traditional Rulers.
“Every child in Kaduna has equal opportunity and access to 12 years of Free and Compulsory Education in our public schools.
Since the north has never supported the nuclear family system, let every man train the hundreds he has. After all, when they grow, they will be his benefit.
I thought Northerners are one. Why can't he channel did nice gesture to all Almajiris residing Kaduna? Must he send non indigenes away from this precious opportunity? Or is he trying to do it, as a way of making mockery of Ganduja?
This is one of the most profund decisions of a northern leader.. I hope other northern leaders will follow suit...... Good one Mr gov.
abbaphyta Very commendable.
Even if u give them university scholarship, they still won't go. Alamjiri is there Destiny and destiny they say can't be denied
This is a great step in the right direction. However, anything they do short of returning those children back to their parents to be properly nurtured is not enough. They should grow up in safe family environments while they enjoy the education that the state offers
A child in Europe can expect to go to school & university, be healthy & cared for through to old age. In most parts of Nigeria only two in six start school at all, many drop out along, deterred due to levied. University is an impossible dream. Thus, go to work to feed the family.
Enroll them in private schools not your government schools.
We palliate poverty and tweak this failing system We need total reset
Oho dai
I,am waiting for Shehu Sani to fault this decision,he will say something like this, enlisting these children into schools in Nigeria is not good enough they should be sent to schools in UK or USA lol.
I wish this was true and stop sending them to other regions/states even with the inter state movement restrictions.👌
This man
By virtue of the Kaduna State Child Protection Law 2018 vis-a-vis Child Rights Law, elrufai acted in the right direction. The Kaduna State Government owe every child in need, a duty of protection and care.
Lol...... Enrol which almajiris in school People that need food ? Their problem isn't education but nutrition Meanwhile..... Which school are you enrolling them when schools are closed Looters !!!!!
Thereby turning them to cashcows again with operation feed the pupils... 👀
Nice one. Best approach. Integrate them in mainstream schools. I never supported almajiri schools, but integrating them into mainstream is the best approach. Well done Gov.
