The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has called attention to the state of basic education in the North East, warning that about one

The Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of TRCN Professor Olusegun Ajiboye, who made these disclosures while speaking in Ibadan, Oyo State said the schools were forced to close over insecurity occasioned by terrorism.Ajiboye also disclosed that over 910 schools have either been damaged or destroyed while about 2, 295 teachers have been killed in the insurgency between 2009 and 2022.

He said, “Over 1,500 schools have been forced to close in Northeastern Nigeria due to terrorism and insurgency. “Federal Government should review its security architecture to address the “deteriorating security situation because of its effect on education.
