Record label boss and businessman, Ubi Franklin, was recently appointed as a special adviser on tourism to the Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade. Though some felt the entrepreneur got the job on account of his popularity, Franklin maintained that he was qualified for the job. He told, “I have a lot of experience in tourism. I have been involved in hospitality and entertainment in the last couple of years and I believe I’m more focused to bring things that have not been done before.
Franklin also said he doesn’t subscribe to the argument that entertainers don’t make good managers. He said, “I don’t think so. Everybody has his own calling. I am a businessman and I have succeeded. For me to have succeeded, it means I am a good manager and I try my best to do whatever I’m supposed to do. The more one learns from people, the better one gets. It is not right to say entertainers don’t make good managers.
The MMMG boss also stated that Cross River is home to a number of tourist attractions. He said, “Lagos is the business capital of the country and everybody wants to come to the state. That is why Lagos is populated. Cross River is quiet and serene for one to enjoy one’s money. There a lot of tourist locations and the people are friendly. Also, our food is good. It is indeed a good place to visit.”All rights reserved.
