BLESSING ENENAITEI am the first of six daughters and I am a graduate of Pharmacology from the University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom. I spent a few years in Nigeria before I went to England during my formative years.
I started Exquisite Magazine while I was still working as a clinical data manager at a pharmaceutical company. I worked in England, Germany and Holland before I started Exquisite Magazine because I felt there was a huge gap in the market in terms of magazines that were available for black women. I started the magazine in 2003 with no knowledge of journalism or publishing. But, a few years later, I decided to stop working and focus on the magazine.
I manage my job and family by the grace and favour of God. I make sure that at whatever time, I am able to determine what is important at that moment and make it a priority. There are different things I do to help me stay grounded to make sure that I am the wife, sister and mother I want to be. I also ensure that one aspect does not suffer because of another. My children are presently 14 and 17 years old respectively and they are a bit independent now as opposed to how it was before.
That would be my ability to inspire women and support their businesses. When we were publishing the magazine every month, holding successful events, making a meaningful impact and seeing the joy in people when they are nominated for our awards are high points for me.Over the past 12 years, thousands of women have been nominated, while over 200 awards have been given to women.
