A27-year-old man, Cephas Iliya, has been apprehended by the Nasarawa State Police Command for allegedly killing a Deputy Chief Auditor in the office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Abuja,

Martins Omeri.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ranmhan Nansel, said the incident happened at the deceased’s residence on Navy Estate, Karshi, in the Karu Local Government Area of the state. He said police personnel attached to the Karshi division acted on credible intelligence and arrested the suspect in the Arab area, FCT, Abuja.

Nansel explained that the police recovered Omeri’s belongings from the suspect’s apartment, including an Infinix phone, a laptop, clothes, a pair of shoes, clippers, beddings, among others. According to him, the suspect confessed to the crime, adding that he sneaked into the deceased’s house in the late hours of November 17, 2020, while he was asleep and killed him with a log of wood.“The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Bola Longe, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia, for an exhaustive investigation after which the suspect will be arraigned,” Nansel added.All rights reserved.
