Confederation of Africa Handball has announced the indefinite postponement of the 28th Africa Junior Women Team Championship scheduled to hold in Conakry, Guinea.However, according to a statement signed by the secretary-general of the CAHB, Charles Omoboumaho, and addressed to the Presidents of the Member Federations participating at the championship, it was revealed that biennial continental championship would be put on hold with no set date.
The reason for the postponement was to allow more teams register for the competition which serves as qualifiers for the World Championships in the two age cadre as Africa has four slots each for the 2022 and 2024 World Women Junior and Youth Championships respectively. The Africa Junior Women Handball Championship had been initially postponed by a week for better preparation.
Reacting to the news, National U-20 coach Bukola Duru, who had been preparing the team for the championship at the Aguiyi Ironsi Cantonment in Abuja, expressed her disappointment at receiving the news of the postponement.
