A group under the aegis of Oron National Forum, ONAF, has tackled the 59 northern members of the House of Representatives over the proposed bill seeking

to eliminate Section 162, subsection 2, of the 1999 constitution as amended, which deals with the principle of derivation.

According to the statement made available to newsmen on Sunday, the group said: “The attention of Oron National Forum, has been drawn to media reports with utter disbelief and reservation the alleged plot by the 59 Northern members of House of Representatives to unlawfully and illegally alter section 162, subsection 2, of the 1999 Constitution which deals with derivation principle.

“The forum wholeheartedly aligns with other democratic and progressive organisations across the Country to vehemently reject, and oppose this unholy attempt to carry out amendment of that section of the constitution to the detriment of the South-South people.
