THE PAYG Business Leader for Nigeria at Greenlight Planet, Omoyemi Tuga, has stressed the importance of greenlight solar-powered electricity in Nigeria.

Tuga, in a statement on Wednesday, said it was unfortunate that Nigeria was home to the largest off-grid and under-electrified population in Africa. He said, “The government estimates indicate 70 million Nigerians live entirely off the grid or lack reliable access to energy at home, though sources suggest this number to be upwards of 100 million.

“Given that most Nigerian households and businesses face severe power cuts, the potential customer profile of an off-grid solar-powered system ranges from the rural, lower-income consumer to a salaried professional living in urban Nigeria. “Greenlight has a bright future in Nigeria as we continue our drive to deliver energy everyone can afford. With our unique value offering to our agent network and the growth in their numbers, Greenlight is poised to remain the PAYG market leader in Nigeria. We won’t relent in our drive until we are able to reach all Nigerians across the country.”
