Ghana crash out of AFCON after shock defeat to Comoros Comoros delivered the biggest upset yet at the African Cup of Nations following a 3-2 win over Ghana in the final Group C encounter played on Tuesday.
With the defeat, the Black Stars crashed out of the AFCON after only one point from three matches. Comoros went ahead on four minutes through El Fardou Ben Nabouhane’s strike before an overzealous Andre Ayew slid into Salim Ben Boina, Comoros’ goalkeeper, injuring him in the process.AdvertisementGhana, however, fought back with strikes from Richmong Boakye and Aleksander Djiku with hopes rising for an unlikely win.
It was Comoros that claimed their first ever AFCON victory, with Mogni scoring again five minutes from time to send the team’s bench into frenzy.The AFCON debutants would wait to see if they can still qualify as one of four best losers.
