The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has set up two adhoc committees to probe the state of the Nigerian downstream sector.

One of the committees is to investigate the true daily consumption of PMS, while the other will look into the state of government-owned refineries.“We will be setting up two ad-hoc committees, to address the issue of fuel subsidy. One will look into how much fuel we consume as a nation on a daily basis,” he said.

The committee on refineries is to be headed by Ganiyu Solomon while the daily consumption probe is to be headed by Abdullahi Ningi. Gbajabiamila said Ningi’s committee is to “go far and wide, talk to experts, talk to labour, talk to national and international experts and those who will know. Talk to the motor vehicles registration centres, we just need to determine how much petrol we consume, talk to the transport companies, deal with facts and figures.”
