The Chairman of the Committee, Musefiu Lamidi issued the directive while concluding consideration on the 2014-2019 audit reports of the 20 Local Government Councils.Lamidi said the concerned officials were to provide further clarifications on the record books of the affected councils before the State lawmakers.

The Chairman of the Committee, Musefiu Lamidi issued the directive while concluding consideration on the 2014-2019 audit reports of the 20 Local Government Councils. Mr Lamidi explained that the invitation, slated for February 3, was to allow the former chairmen to make further clarifications on some grey areas contained in the audit queries on the financial reports of the councils. Lamidi said the concerned officials were to provide further clarifications on the record books of the affected councils before the State lawmakers. “Upon the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Adatan division, Superintendent of Police, Abiodun Salau detailed his detectives to effect the arrest of the randy pastor,” the police spokesman said. This was just as the Committee reaffirmed its invitation to all Heads of Local Government Administration (HOLGAs), Treasurers and Directors, General Services and Administrations as well as Internal Auditors in all the councils for an interactive session on February 16, 2022. Mr Lamidi further stated that the committee was also considering invitation to Tope Oyekan, currently serving in Ikenne local government council, to appear before the lawmakers. The Committee equally summoned one retired Mrs.” The Ogun Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed that the DPO of Adatan division, SP Abiodun Salau, had detailed his detectives to arrest the pastor.

He tasked local government officials to adhere strictly to the principles of accountability and transparency, especially in the financial records of the councils. Others included nugatory payments, improper signing of payment vouchers and self procurements by some council chairmen amongst others which were against financial regulations. In his remarks, the Auditor General for Local Government, Lamidi Mulero lauded the lawmakers for ensuring a thorough examination of the six years audit reports, stating that the exercise was conducted in good faith with transparency and a high level of fairness. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the committee had considered the audit reports of local government councils from 2014 financial year to 2019 financial year.
