Belgium captain, Eden Hazard, voted Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema, as the best men’s player for 2021, while Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, went for Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, according to FIFA.
Both Hazard and Musa snubbed Paris Saint-Germain’s Lionel Messi and Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo.The Poland international won the award after he was snubbed for the 2021 Ballon d’Or, losing out to Messi. Lewandowski was Musa’s first pick for the prize, with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Chelsea’s Jorginho also on his list.
Hazard, meanwhile, voted for his club teammate Benzema to win the award. Kevin De Bruyne and Jorginho were also included in his top three.
