A new twist has been added to the agitation over zoning of governorship ticket to the Ekiti South Senatorial District in the All Progressives Congress, as

Faparusi, who was the Deputy Director-General, Kayode Fayemi Campaign Council in 2018, said politicians from the zone campaigned with the mantra that Fayemi would give power to the South in 2022, which he said did the magic for APC in the district.Faparusi spoke in Ode Ekiti on Monday while addressing APC ward and local government executives in Ayekire Local Government and Gbonyin Local Council Development Areas.

The former House of Representatives member, said: “We used South for 2022 Governorship to campaign for Governor Fayemi in 2018. an aspirant, Bamidele Faparusi claimed that Governor Kayode Fayemi, promised to give power to the zone during his reelection in 2018.Published 16 January 2022 LAST week’s meeting between Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi and All Progressives Congress leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was not about presidential ambition as being rumoured in some quarters, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Yinka Oyebode, has said.*Denies dropping undeclared presidential ambition *Makinde wishes ex-Lagos gov well, says he wants best for Nigeria Victor Ogunje in Ado Ekiti Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has clarified that his recent meeting with the former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, offered an avenue to ruminate on the progress of the nation and not about any 2023 presidential ambition.Says meeting with APC leader about national devt Victor Ogunje in Ado Ekiti Ekiti State Governor, Dr.

Faparusi, who was the Deputy Director-General, Kayode Fayemi Campaign Council in 2018, said politicians from the zone campaigned with the mantra that Fayemi would give power to the South in 2022, which he said did the magic for APC in the district. Faparusi spoke in Ode Ekiti on Monday while addressing APC ward and local government executives in Ayekire Local Government and Gbonyin Local Council Development Areas. It is ,therefore, disingenuous of spin doctors who were nowhere near the venue of the meeting to begin to second guess discussions at the meeting”. The former House of Representatives member, said: “We used South for 2022 Governorship to campaign for Governor Fayemi in 2018. Fayemi berated those he described as spin doctors, who claimed that he dropped his veiled presidential ambition at the meeting when nothing of such happened. It is our votes in the south that won for APC, but the governor after his swearing-in concentrated all major appointments in the Central, including Ado Ekiti, where APC lost. The governor’s aide dismissed insinuations that the meeting signposted that Fayemi had surrendered his undeclared presidential ambition to Tinubu’s declared one, saying such a speculation was baseless. “The South is being hugely cheated in APC. Specifically, the statement noted that they had been dishing out barefaced and unsubstantiated lies that Fayemi at the closed door meeting debunked the raging rumour of his 2023 presidential ambition and pledged support for the national leader of the APC Fayemi said the story by the spin doctors stands logic in the head and stands not only disclaimed but condemned, saying it should have been sourced from the rumour mill, or as a beer parlour gist.

The South even voted against their own son, Prof. So, there should not be any big deal in seeing them meet, except someone has opted to create a mischief out of it”. “It was a family meeting of minds. Kolapo Olusola, who was the PDP candidate in 2018, because of Governor Fayemi. We told our people that after four years, it will be our turn to produce the governor.” He added, “If and when Dr Fayemi chooses to declare his interest in running for the 2023 presidential ticket, he would not be embarking on an ego trip that would warrant going into an unhealthy contest with Asiwaju Tinubu or anyone else. “PDP had once picked someone as governorship candidate in the South, but the APC had a deep-seated hatred for the South. Political leadership plays an indispensable role in foisting great responsibilities on people, thus both formal and informal discourses cannot be wished away. The party had never picked any governor or Deputy Governor from that zone since 1999. Neither will he run the race with the intention of using it to negotiate with anyone. Rather he will run because he is convinced it is desirable for him to do so.

The continuity that we want in APC can only be possible if the party zones its ticket to the South, no other option. “The APC belongs to all of us. “Should Dr Fayemi eventually choose to run in the 2023 presidential race at all, he would not hide his intention to do so, neither will he involve himself in any clandestine meeting to discuss his chances, since he would have been x-rayed and classified among the preferred aspirants based on his credentials, even before he makes such declaration. “Meeting between the two leaders, dates as far back as their days in exile, when they were both involved in the struggle to wrest the country away from military jackboots, and has since been a regular occurrence both within and outside the country’s political space. We can’t afford to be cheated in a party that we all struggled to build. We can’t allow anyone to create second class citizens in APC. All rights reserved. “We sacrificed for our party and even voted against our own son in the district. “This may have been further fuelled by the fact that Asiwaju Tinubu said he had informed President Muhammadu Buhari that he would be coveting the presidential seat in 2023. In a democratic setting like Nigeria with so many issues begging for attention, the statement explained that discussion would go on daily among political leaders at various levels.

On this gentleman’s agreement we stand, we must honour it. Contact:. It will be good for the polity, stabilise Ekiti and engender development and unity in our dear state”. Faparusi insisted that the zone won’t accept the Deputy governorship position from the APC, describing dangling of such offers as drinking from a poisoned chalice.” Fayemi accused rumour peddlers of surreptitiously scrambling for relevance by weaving, not half-truths, but blatant lies into the Tinubu-Fayemi meeting, saying it signposted Fayemi surrendering his undeclared ambition to Asiwaju Tinubu’s declared one. It is an insult to the people of the area. “What we want is governorship. “So, there should not be any big deal in seeing them meet, except someone has opted to create a mischief out of it,” the statement said.

We are not going to trade this for anything. At its best, it is a mere conjecture. The primary is coming, let us vote for our own son. Don’t abandon aspirants from the South because of money. Money will be spent, but your relationship with people will remain, that is what you should think of. Neither will he run the race to use it to negotiate with anyone. “Some people who have the money from the South to buy forms even made sacrifices by not contesting, so we have just three aspirants from our district now. “However, both Asiwaju Tinubu’s declared ambition and Fayemi’s undeclared ambition have now been taken up and given verve by some spin doctors, particularly those who believe such could rev up their relevance in the eyes of either of the political leaders.

Don’t be deceived by these desperate power seekers. Anything short of governorship for the South, we will resist it at all cost”. He said this when Tinubu visited him over the demise of a former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, and two prominent traditional rulers – the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade III, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogunguniso I. The Chairman of the State Teaching Service Commission, Mr. Babatunde Abegunde, urged the aspirants from the district to close ranks and work together to have a good chance of clinching the ticket. In his submission, the APC Chairman in Ayekire Local Government, Mr. According to Makinde, politicians may fight, struggle for political positions, but power can only come from God.

Tokunbo Akinyeye, said having the governor from the South would be of tremendous benefit to the people of the area. “The party is not forcing executives of APC to vote for anybody. That we have aspirants from the South showed that we are blessed. This is the year political parties will elect their candidates towards the election that is coming next year. We can’t abandon our own sons for someone from another zone”. Related Topics: .
