The Centre for Biodiversity Conservation and Ecosystem Management , University of Lagos has called on the Federal Government and other stakeholders to intervene through policies that could champion the sustainability of the environment in Africa.

He stated that Nigeria, Africa and global biodiversity is depleting at a very fast rate, which started since 1900, but observed that the phenomenon has become more alarming recently. “We also need government intervention and policies to direct the cause of sustainability of our environment. Some of these interventions are not what the individual would do; it is the government policies that would drive the intervention. We also need private sector investment and engagement for the protection of the environment. The sustainability of Nigerian environment is a mandatory requirement of every Nigerian to avoid being diminished with our environment” he said.
