Sani Bello, former aide-de-camp to Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, ex-military head of state, has shared the details of how his principal was killed during the coup d’etat of July 1966.on Sunday, Bello recounted the incidents that took place on the day of the coup.

Reminiscing about the coup, Bello said he was with the former military head of state at the government house in Ibadan when it began. “Fajuyi called his ADC, A B Umaru, to see who was coming in because it was late in the night, and he quickly did that.“After some time, Fajuyi said we should send for vehicles. We started sending orderlies to bring the vehicles, but unfortunately, the Government House in Ibadan was very badly constructed. All the services were outside the Government House. So, we sent the orderlies, including a very old sergeant-major who was very close to Ironsi, and they never came back.

He added that his plea bought time for one “Lieutenant Dada” to catch up with the convoy to demand his release but failed to secure the safety of Aguiyi-Ironsi and Fajuyi also. “We drove for some time until we reached a level crossing. We were still moving. I didn’t know whether it was a flyover. When we reached there, we turned right into the bush as was demanded by the staff-sergeant. We drove for some distance and stopped.

Wow!

You where compensated for murdering your CinC you treasonable scum to show you're a liar you kept saying I was young I was young all through the interview.

I'm really sorry about that incident then..

Not only aguiyi ironsi...also dey march fajuyi with him.. Dey also killed hundreds southerners in the northern part of Nigeria... This is pure history, but let us come together (poor southerners and poor northerners) to fight our common enemies... Humm wake up now

How could he eat dinner with the devil, instead of his brother

These 1966 incidents underscore the importance of zoning between the Northern and the Southern regions. Also, among the 6 geopolitical zones. Apparently, the first coup d’état happened because power had remained for too long in the North, pre-independence and post-independence.

Simon Kolawole is doing the devil's work as usual. His life calling

Tinubu will do anything to be president, including paying TheCable to bring up historical events to arouse hatred and friction between the Hausas and Igbos, so that the north will not vote for PO. You have failed woefully, because we know your evil plan

This aspect of history is unnecessary at this point. The election is weeks away! What is Cables’ point? Simon Kolawole is the owner of this online news hub. Is he trying to whip up tribal sentiments to influence the elections? On whose side is he?

The 1966-70 events won't be forgotten neither forgiven! Northern leaders and finest military officers were summarily executed for no reason but, envy, hatred, ethnicity and bigotry! The first democratically elected government was overthrown by Igbo officers! It's a painful event

Is this publication necessary as this point in time?

We no! Open 2023 election chapter.

What's the importance of this particular tweet at this point ?
