The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission on Tuesday issued notices of intention to sanction seven distribution companies over their alleged failure to comply with the Order 197/2020 which placed

limits on estimated bills that can be issued by Discos to unmetered customers.

In the order which took effect on February 20, 2020, NERC had said it cancelled the Estimated Billing Methodology Regulation as a basis for computing the consumption of unmetered customers by the discos. “A consumer of XYZ Disco resident in White Acre under R2 tariff class has an energy cap of 78 kilowatt-hour per month and a tariff of N42 per kilowatt-hour. The maximum that XYZ Disco can invoice such a customer is 78kWhr x N24/kWhr=N1,872 per month,” NERC said.

Ibadan Electricity Distribution company is even worst...... Estimate bill is till exist, but to my surprised the company was not included.......NERC should query d IBEDC too.....they too refused to give us prepaid meter

They should give every customers prepaid meter, its is called roll-out....NERC will be fighting a battle they know they will finally back down

We are still underdeveloped, may God help our leaders and give us servant leaders.

They are rogues. I use prepaid meter and spend average of 2500 per month. I hardly use my AC and heaters. But a Co tenant without prepaid tenant pay 12,000 monthly and he is hardly at home!

After queries. What follows? Story story...
