The youths, under the aegis of Victory Advocates of Nigeria, who said only collective effort could win election, said unity among members was necessary if the PDP genuinely wanted to defeat the ruling party and restore hope to Ekiti State. VAN National President, Seyi Ajibola, who spoke in Ado Ekiti during the ‘Ekiti Peace and Unity Summit’ in Ado-Ekiti, organised by the group to advise the party on way forward and as well honour some leaders, urged aspirants and other stakeholders to sheathe their sword and embrace peace. The group considered it outrageous, the brazen marginalisation of the South, since the advent of democracy in 1999, saying time to correct the anomaly is now for the purpose of equity, fairness, justice and the future generation of Ekiti. Ajibola said, “In Ekiti, we want a candidate of the people who can project the image and win for the party and let me quickly say that all the aspirants are capable and whoever the party puts forward, we will support him. He said, “I also want to appeal to party men to be civil and peaceful. We want the leaders to bring themselves together, they should not allow the intra-party crisis to mar the chances of the party during the June 18 governorship poll. Babalola said, “Governor Kayode Fayemi promised the south in 2018 and we are now bothered that he is changing the goal post now.” The VAN president said that youths were interested in the unity of the party and would do everything possible to ensure peace with a view to ensure that aspirants and the tendencies close ranks and shelve their personal interests in the “overall interest of the suffering residents of the state who are looking up to the opposition party”. Keen watchers of the power politics in Osun State are of the view that if Adeleke again picks the governorship ticket and Oyetola stands for the APC, it would be a keen contest.

He said, “We have a lot of compounded issues in Ekiti PDP that if care is not taken, may mar our chances irrespective of the candidate put forward. “If the bigwigs in the party that produced Governor Fayemi could be saying that Presidency should come to the South in 2023, why are they now depriving the south governorship in Ekiti? “Let me say that the people of the South will regard any governorship aspirant from the South that takes the Deputy governorship slot from any candidate as “Judas Iscariot”. “The primary of any party should be a day of celebration of democracy and not a day of bloodshed. We must manage our internal crisis beyond party politics and shelve selfish interests. Read Also . Fuming over the alleged systematic infusion of what he described as “apartheid” in Ekiti politics, the group added that “All aspirants from Ekiti South have the competence, experience, comportment, skills and mastery of Ekiti to successfully steer the ship of Ekiti State as Governor.
