Iwobi says interim coach Austin Eguavoen has made the Super Eagles “more of a family” since he took charge of the team in December, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.“I’m not too sure anything has changed playing under Eguavoen, but I feel the team is hungrier under him now,” the Everton forward told PUNCH Sports Extra.
The Eagles defeated Egypt 1-0 thanks to a sublime strike from Kelechi Iheanacho. They also trashed Sudan 3-1 courtesy of goals from Samuel Chukwueze, Taiwo Awoniyi and Moses Simon while they needed strikes from Sadiq Umar and William Troost-Ekong to get past Guinea-Bissau in their final group fixture.“We are all happy to have won our three opening games,” Iwobi continued.
“These victories show that we are ready for any opponent and it is a good signal we are sending out there to any team that wants to play Nigeria. We are doing well and we need to keep the consistency.“We still have to remain focus and humble there are still more tough games to be played and we will keep doing our country proud.
The former Arsenal forward also promised to give his best to the team despite not playing in his favourite No.10 role in the team. “The No.10 role is my favourite position, however, I’m happy to play in any position the coach wants me to play in.All rights reserved. A true test will be when the team is in adversity or in a rough patch. All good & easy when ‘rything is good. Wish the boys all the best tho. Come on super Eagles! 🦅 🦅
This is very encouraging to hear. Nothing can stand against a team United as a family. Good one Coach Eguavon
