Drug Abuse: Reps task NDLEA, NAFDAC on urgent action

The House of Representatives has urged the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC to be alive to their responsibilities as provided in the relevant Acts.The lawmakers also urged the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria to exercise control by ensuring that only qualified Pharmacists are allowed to run Pharmaceutical shops.

They further called on parents to be alive to their responsibilities in giving their children proper up bringing; While arguing the motion, the lawmaker said: “The House notes that drugs and narcotics are manufactured for use to combating health challenges and wrongful usage of drugs is contrary to the purpose for which drugs are produced;

She also noted that it was in appreciation of the need to combat the above situation that the Federal Government established the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control to eradicate the menace of drug abuse.
