Nigerian Emmanuel Dennis helped Club Brugge cruise to a 2-1 win away at Russian champions Zenit St Petersburg in their opening 2020/21 UEFA Champions League Group F fixture on Tuesday.

Dennis, who shot himself to limelight after scoring a brace against Real Madrid in last season’s 2-2 group fixture at the Santiago Bernabeu, opened the scoring for the Belgian champions in the 63rd minute, his first goal of the season after seven games.

The hosts pulled one back in the 74th minute from an Ethan Horvath’s own goal after series of pressure from the Russians, but the Belgians broke Zenit’s hearts in the 90th minute with a Charles De Ketelaere winner.
