The Katsina State Government has directed primary and day secondary schools in the state to reopen on Monday, January, 25, 2021.

Each school is supposed to set up School Security Committee comprising eight members among who are security operatives, before the resumption date. A circular signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Musa Abdu Dankama dated 19th January, 2021 and issued on Tuesday night contained the directive.According to the circular, each school would only be allowed to resume academic activities subject to compulsory formation of the security committee comprising eight members including security personnel, traditional, religious leaders and other stakeholders.

The circular partly read, “The security meeting must be held regularly and assessment of the school security situation be made promptly while each school must ensure it forwards the minutes at the meeting to the supervising Ministry, Departments and Agency as soon it is possible before the resumption on Monday 25 January, 2021.”The circular also directed that each school management should ensure that pupils and staff observe COVID-19 protocols.
