Court releases six students, lecturer detained over Facebook post

Six students and a lecturer of the Madonna University, Okija, Anambra State, who have been in detention since February, for posting ‘offensive’ messages onThey were granted bail on Wednesday by the Federal High Court in Awka, presided over by Babatunde Quadri.

This newspaper gathered that the parents of six students earlier protested the alleged inhuman treatment of their wards in the university and called for their release. “Let them be allowed to go home, but they should sign an undertaking to be of good behaviour,” Mr Oboh insisted. “I thank God that the judge has finally granted them bail. But I am not really happy about the intimidation of our children by the management of Madonna University.

No disrespect but but Rev Ede is foolish Tyrant. Thank God i did not school in Madonna, the school has groomed more spoilt youths over Excesses on ' so called morality'.

Madonna university management action against these students is sacrilegious and condemnable .This is height of arrogance and impunity from supposedly holy man. Parents and guardians should as a matter of urgency withdraw their children and ward from this glorified high school.
