Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has apologised for the Peoples Democratic Party rally held in Ibadan amid coronavirus scare.In a statement Thursday night, Makinde admitted that the programme should have been cancelled.
“I have received your complaints about the rally that was held yesterday, and I feel obligated to state in clear terms that we acted based on the information we had at that time. In retrospect, it should not have happened and I take responsibility for that lapse in judgement”, he noted. The governor assured the people that his administration was doing everything in its power and working with the agencies of the Federal Government, to take proactive measures to prevent the spread of the virus.Makinde further announced the set up of the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force.
“The Free Health Mission which was launched on Monday, March 16, 2020, will continue. The mission will be used as a vehicle for disseminating information about Coronavirus prevention and control. He urged anyone who has shown symptoms of COVID-19 such as dry cough, fever, nausea, severe headaches, difficulty breathing and tiredness to isolate themselves and call Oyo State Ministry of Health’s helplines: 08038210122, 08023229267 or 08073431342.
That shows Governor Seyi Makinde is a listening Leader and I love him more for this. However, he should be careful of those Political jesters in the PDP pretending to be leaders!!Kudos to you Mr. Governor.
