The Christian Association of Nigeria has expressed hope that the ban on religious gatherings in the country may be lifted by the first Sunday of June.

CAN President Rev Samson Ayokunle gave the indication in a statement on Wednesday. He said if the government did not entertain any fear in opening markets and banks, there would not be any basis to hesitate in opening churches considering the fact that they are more organised than markets and banks.

“We are in discussions with the Federal Government and are drawing the guidelines that churches would follow in order not to endanger the life of any worshipper and equally prevent COVID-19 infection. Meanwhile, CAN, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 met on Wednesday over the issue.

Apart from the usual the guidelines, the NSCIA was said to have asked that worship be held the same hour according to Qur’anic injunctions, but said children would not take part.

These ones are pushing for reopening of churches but come to think of it, what has CAN as a body done for Christians since the emergence of this Pandemic? Well since their wellbeing has been the only thing that matters, God help us. 😎💔

Covid19 has made us realized that, there is no need of any religious leaders in our life. What has being there contribution since pandemic started.

Heard all the gist & politics about this church reopening & understand why many are against it (men especially) but did you visit the markets this period? How did you feel? Yesterday at Wuse Mkt was MAAD & I was told the number of people was simply scary! Church is a lot safer!

God doesn't live in a particular place. If that was the case, the lockdown has proven it otherwise. Call on your creator wherever you are, he will surely answer.

The cases are rising per each day and they intend opening the churches. God have mercy
