The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, disclosed this on Tuesday while briefing State House correspondents in Abuja.

The Nigerian government has proposed the extension of fuel subsidy removal for 18 months and is planning to seek to amend the Petroleum Industry Act to such effect.

“We are proposing an 18-month extension but what the National Assembly is going to approve is up to them,” the minister said. “With assent by the President on August 16, 2021, the PMS subsidy removal was therefore expected to take place effective February 16, 2022. However, following extensive consultations with all key stakeholders within and outside the government, it has been agreed that the implementation period for the removal of the subsidy should be extended.

I thought Buhari said subsidy is a scam?

This subsidy again, how many times have to they remove subsidy from fuel in this administration. They remove subsidy when they jack up price from N97 to N145, then N167. Which subsidy again?

The problem is that NIGERIA is not running a true economic system; only FreeMarket economy can rescue Nigeria from the current crisis because it limits corruption & government confiscations of rights of people unlawfully

E ni kure

Mr President during Goodluck Jonathan time petrol was selling 140 naira. Since you resume office petrol is 165 naira. And since then there was no protect

Apc taking Nigerians for a ride.. the calculation is let hustle our come back first by rigging first then we can do removal without a blink..

Na Dem self Dem dey fool. Where the subsidy dey before...

It clearly shows that he didn't understand the PIB he signed because one of the components is that subsidy is going to be removed. Bills that are not ok you sign and those that are not you refuse to sign

Well played... 😅

Hold till after election rite?

Great move by the Nigeria govt and good negotiation with the IMF to suspend the fuel subsidy removal ,IMF were the ones responsible for urging the govt to remove fuel subsidy as part of the loan agreement, their main job is to slow down our economy

When you would have left the government house so your successor bears the burden of your actions. Be a man abs face it.

NaijaGoBeta1 They are kicking the can down the road. I wonder what impact Dangote refinery would have when it kicks off. I pray God saves Lagos and gas fires.

After which APC would have been voted into power again and the non-existent fuel subsidy would be removed, then a litre of pms would cost about N400. Nigerians shine your eyes, don't say you were not warned.!

Do this man know he have less than 18 months in office. Dementia is a disease

This buhari hmmmm God punish you
