The Supreme Court has concluded hearing of the two appeals filed in relation to the dispute over the last governorship election held in Plateau State, won by Governor Simon Lalong of the All Progressives Congress .
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the election, Jeremiah Useni is, by the appeal marked SC/1501/2019 challenging Lalong’s victory. Lalong also filed an appeal marked: SC/1500/2019 challenging an aspect of the decision of the Court of Appeal. A seven-man panel of the Supreme Court, led by Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, stood down both appeals till later today, after lawyers representing parties, adopted their written briefs of argument today.
The court has commenced hearing in the appeal in relation to the dispute on the last governorship election in Bauchi State, won by Bala Mohammed of the PDP. The appeal marked: SC/1502/2019 was filed by Mohammed Abubakar of the APC, who contested the election as the candidate of the APC.
