BREAKING: Sanwo-Olu bans Okada in Apapa, Ikeja, Lagos Island, three others - Punch Newspapers

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has banned the operations of commercial motorcycles popularly called Okada, in six Local Governments.

He gave the order on Wednesday while speaking with all Divisional Police Officers and Area Commanders across the state at the Lagos House, Ikeja.The six local governments listed by the governor are Ikeja, Surulere, Eti-Osa, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, and Apapa.

And sir jidesanwoolu ban them throughout Lagos. The lives of all Lagosians in alll local govt is important not a section of Lagos. Somebody noted tightly that These riders will only move to where okada is not banned in Lagos and continue to be a menace

I think the problem is the courage and will power to enforce the ban. One ban too many if you ask me. jidesanwoolu please let the LASG get it right this time. Fire brigade approach whenever something bad happened and there is a public outcry will not solve this okada problem

Why only six councils. They will migrate from the six to other councils. The influx of these okada riders into lagos is a disaster waiting to happen.

I remembered jidesanwoolu placed a ban on Okada in these same local government a few years back that took the Likes of OPayNigeria and GokadaNG out of business . Which ban is this one again! comedy government

and how do you enforce this ban on okada , because the last time I checked these invaders in form of okada riders are not respecter of the laws of the land.

Give us workable solution before subjecting us to another round of avoidable pains. Countless time of banning Okada, yet, continous bikes seizure at Allen junction Ikeja while that of Aromire junction like 4 buildings apart remain untouched.

I think we need total ban of okada in Lagos,some states have done it so it's nothing new ,these riders have taken laws into their hands, killing people at will for a minor argument no sane government will allow that nonsense so kudos to his excellency sanwo olu

If you want the whole of Lagos to be safe, then there should be an outright ban on the operations of all okada riders. That is one way to work towards the attainment of a mega city 🏙️ status for Lagos.
