This the President disclosed in his address to the nation on Sunday, March 29.“based on the advice of the Federal Ministry of Health and the NCDC, I am directing the cessation of all movements in Lagos and the FCT for an initial period of 14 days with effect from 11pm on Monday, 30th March 2020.
4. Nigeria, unfortunately, confirmed its first case on 27th February 2020. Since then, we have seen the number of confirmed cases rise slowly. 8. We are in touch with these institutions as they work towards a solution that will be certified by international and local medical authorities within the shortest possible time.
12. Indeed, the Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control was one of ten global health leaders invited by the World Health Organisation to visit China and understudy their response approach. I am personally very proud of Dr Ihekweazu for doing this on behalf of all Nigerians. 18. Some of these measures will surely cause major inconveniences to many citizens. But these are sacrifices we should all be willing and ready to make for the greater good of our country.
22. As we are all aware, Lagos and Abuja have the majority of confirmed cases in Nigeria. Our focus therefore remains to urgently and drastically contain these cases, and to support other states and regions in the best way we can. 28. This training will also include medical representatives from our armed forces, paramilitary and security and intelligence agencies.
32. The few confirmed cases outside Lagos and Abuja are linked to persons who have travelled from these centres. 36. The Governors of Lagos and Ogun States as well as the Minister of the FCT have been notified. Furthermore, heads of security and intelligence agencies have also been briefed. 42. All seaports in Lagos shall remain operational in accordance with the guidelines I issued earlier. Vehicles and drivers conveying essential cargoes from these Ports to other parts of the country will be screened thoroughly before departure by the Ports Health Authority.
46. We are fully aware that such measures will cause much hardship and inconvenience to many citizens. But this is a matter of life and death, if we look at the dreadful daily toll of deaths in Italy, France and Spain. 50. Furthermore, although schools are closed, I have instructed the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development to work with State Governments in developing a strategy on how to sustain the school feeding program during this period without compromising our social distancing policies. The Minister will be contacting the affected States and agree on detailed next steps.
What of Nasarawa State that is close to capital city
buhari resign
I think that the way Lagos state planned it is the best. Allowing the small food market, filling stations, medicals, and other food items shops to be running. I hope it remains same...
The president should have declare nationwide curfew at least 1wk while the testing continues, medical sections should be equipped to monitor the SARS across every state, this will enable presidency to see the need for an extension or not.
They bribe them and they will allow u pass Foolish people
Can we move within the state, will market open
During the curfew period what is the government plan?. Disinfect public places or..?
They should also ensure there is constant electricity especially areas sharing boundaries with Lagos like Ogijo
There some people if they don't sell they can't see money to buy food ooo
Abuja should not be included in this curfew, it is not as crowded as Lagos. Besides they should give us light 24/7,Even if we stock up everything fuel will still finish b4 the two weeks ends.
This is medicine after death. For selfish reasons,Govt refused to heed the call for necessary action and now this. Pls who are the school children to be fed when all schools have been closed Is this another approach to stealing..What on earth will tradermoni, farmermoni etc do
Weldone MBuhari NGRPresident ,but this is coming really late, right from the first time we heard about it, airports would have been closed since. God bless Nigeria
Don't you have a video of the president's speech?😩😩
He just wake up from his slumber....🙄.. Look at him, still talking sleeping..
Please WHO and WHONigeria WHOAFRO please how does curfew works in this situation, is curfew same as lockdown that you recommended?
What provision is in place for us, now that the stay at home has added another 1week making 3 weeks. My thoughts hunger will kill more people in Nigeria and it will be taken for coronavirus. Smh
Lagos state have oready set their own means of feeding their citizens
The president made a wonderful speech today. I was really impressed.
Shey nepa will give us 14days constant light or will filing stations open?
Hmmmm 14days curfew and no provision for the masses despite all donations received by govt...I cry for my dear country, may God deliver us from the hands of the wicked.
Na wa o
14days lockdown = 14 Gigabytes 😫😫😫😫.... Provided you restrict usage
The Curfew for a start should have been nation wide at least for 1 week while the testing continues and the situation monitored across every state, to see the need for an extension would be considered StayAtHomeAndStaySafe
Pmb should be talking to Nigerians,we want to hear from him.
Closing of borders at initials would have being the best, I remember the days of Ebola we suffered it alone in this country, other countries shut their borders. Must our leaders allow it get to this level? Hunger would be d killer now not even the virus any longer.
Which nonsense Buhari, you people should stop deceiving people, you don't make progress and Prosper with lies. A photoshoped/after effect nonsense broadcast, static imagery and low resolution background. The person that wrote the speech with lots of 'father more' is dumb.
Curfew with nothing to eat
Much needed curfew!
