The Supreme Court, on Wednesday, fined Chief Afe Babalola and Chief Wole Olanipekun N30 million each for agreeing to file an application for the review of the apex court’s judgment on Bayelsa election.in the applications for a review of its February 13, 2020 judgment which overturned the All Progressives Congress’ victory in the last governorship election in Bayelsa State.

Subsequently, the apex court awarded the costs of N10m to be personally paid by David Lyon’s lawyer, Chief Afe Babalola , and APC’s lawyer, Olanipekun . A seven-man panel of the apex court led by Justice Sylvester Ngwuta described the applications filed by the APC and its governorship candidate at the poll, Lyon, as vexatious, frivolous, and constituted a gross abuse of court process.

Very strong statement of intent by the apex court

I no go talk anything. Make I waka pass🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️.

I wish the female judge was defending a court we have not all known to have compromised on my occasions in the past, jurisprudence in nigeria really could be a butt of jokes of international courts. Anyway maybe we still have those who got the integrity left sha.

👍

It seems to me, that the era of buying justice is beginning to come to an end- lets’ keep our feet on the pedals. Judges of the supreme courts are finding their “mojos” one step at a time.

E pain me gaaan! I wish Falana was there! So whose house are we taking the next protest to?

Anyway, they've billed their clients milliins of Naira. Waiting till 2nd of march to see what befalls OfficialPDPNig lawyers on Imo.

It serves them right....corruption from the top

I didn’t hear Justice Augie’s voice when the apex court made a mockery of itself by dismissing Atiku’s case in the Presidential appeal with no explanation. Who doesn’t know Justice Augie from her time in Kaduna? Igbo Brothers, come and carry your long-lost Sister.

APC will pay na

Learned silks, Afe Babalola(SAN) & Wole Olanipekun(SAN), should quickly file for a review of the fines.

Only God knows how much they convince Loyd to cough out.

Sadist judgment.

Way to go, all these old lawyers should know better. Disgraceful, anything for the money.

APC actually meant business with that Bayelsa SC Judgement Review. You only give the combine force of these two legal juggernauts to other legal juggernauts,Chief Afe Babalola(SAN) & Chief Wole Olanipekun(SAN)your brief to handle,if you badly want a win,at any cost under the Sun

It's regrettable that these senior lawyers would opt to slaughter their reputation on the altar of venal filthy lucre. They ought to have been jailed in addition to the fines. Democracy dies when the Judiciary is thoughtlessly politicized.

This is the effect of when you keep believing your lies. Who told them that Bayelsa case is the same with IMO case. IMO case is a case of rushed judgement without calculator. It has to do with numbers, that is why SC have to look into it and make sure that those numbers Tally.

I was wondering what the supreme court would do, this is the best result ever, charge and bail lawyers reviewing supreme court verdict shame to respected SANs

A way to send fear to the camp of Emeka ihedioha and his lawyers to see if they can write to withdraw the case. Emmy stand your ground and make your points known to them even if they fine you pay with smiles their conscience will forever torment them.

I am totally disappointed in these men

Very good. If every man has a price then it should come with a cost. These lawyers think because they know technicalities they should turn the law into their puppet to cause confusion all over the place all for the money.

You can see what Buhari and his hechmen, Apc and Oshiomole has turned the judiciary into.

The supreme court isn't perfect yes , but challenging her rulings rendered the judicial system useless.

Imo will go the same way.

The incorruptible judge

The FINE is good on them since they don't want to have sense. As a layman I've always known that any supreme court judgment in the world stands, incontrovertible and final. The U.S Supreme Court judgment on gays still stand notwithstanding the religious beliefs of some people.

The court is too lenient with the lawyers. They should have been derobed for robbing their clients with the intent of destroying the apex court.

The supreme Court Justice was with tears while delivering the fines pronounced on the senior advocate because she saw how the judiciary had been damaged by politicians and lawyers who ought to know the law better but had sold themselves because of money.

A judgement the SAN will definitely hold tight till death do they part. It's not ignorance, no its not, it's judiciary arm twisting due to socioeconomic status and deliberate attempt to impress political clienteles among others.

Baba is more than able! Biko he must pay with his own money o bìfò APC will comman go an use àwà money to pay legal fees/costs

Good move. I was seriously expecting a punitive cost to follow the dismissal of these very petty and frivolous applications. Thank God the Supreme Court rose to the occasion. It would have been very dangerous against public policy. Great news!

These SAN are joke

Oh how I love this judgment. It sounds like sweet music to my ears.

They should pay that money o! with smiles.

A very nice one. Good judgement

How the mighty rumbling, tests of the Nigeria sagacity or sovereignty is attempting our most respectable Nigerian exclusives powerful APEX Courts. Every act of wrong doing especially, knowing and violating its has escapable consequences.

Ọ dị egwu.

Interesting. watching

Shameless old men who has sold their conscience and integrity for money.

The tears the justice shed should be for her supreme court colleagues who are delivering stupid politicians influenced judgement....they brought the court to disrepute and should stop their senseless rulings...

I doubt D veracity of som Nigerians belief in God anyway. Otherwise, why would U believe in God and go to the shrine? We are total fake people parading ourselves as members of the international community. A nation whose universities bred looters of the future of their youths

Hmmm. I don't have anything to say.

Commendable

This is simply because we never believe in Whiteman's system. We are just pretending. Education isn't just reading writing and speaking foreign. It's also believing in the system of education. It's not just being a clever devil. Nigerian so called educated are problem.

Great move

They can afford it

Good move to restore the diginity of the apc battered supreme Court

Where is Oshiomole? The judge suppose to have something for him Atleast, he started this shameless review.

Just thinking how much Afe Babalola got for this case?🤔

I actually expected Chief Babalola, a SAN of over 33 years and Olanipekun, a former NBA President (and indigenes of the 'fountain of knowledge') , to know better but here we are......😏

School fees go increase 4 AFE BABALOLA University, dis one wey Supreme court fine am so. Why not tell your clients the truth, to save of them further cost?

Wole Olanipekun representing Apc is to pay 10 million. What did the PDP lawyer do?.What offence?

These are the rogue SAN that feed on the corrupt military marxists 1999 constitution You will think it was an illiterate that was filing the case for Mr. Lyon CORRUPTION is multi faceted in 🇳🇬 Private & Public CORRUPTION

When they're pushing you and you don't use your head, that's what you get. Senior lawyers for that matter.

Hmmm. What a judgement

Good decision👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Greedy lawyers make them shit am out

No waaaaaaay!!!! Very interesting and commendable. Let's see if they'll ask the supreme court to overturn itself again.

Good

IMO May go this way

😂 ndi review 🤣

BabajideOtitoju I think they finally heard you.

I had also thought that any decision by the Supreme Court was final.

I said it. Lawyers are the problems of 9ja. Two sets of people that are likely not to make heaven, Lawyers and Soccer players 😁

With tears in her eyes, the justice regretted that “very senior” lawyers were responsible for filing the applications. Senior lawyers, one with a university that his training new lawyers. Playing ignorance to law. All in the name of money.

Very Good

🤣🤣🤣 A whole SAN making a mockery of the whole Judicial Process. That serves them right
