Former Atletico Madrid coach Jorge D’Alessandro has revealed how Barcelona and Real Madrid failed to sign now-Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez for as low as €10 million in the past.
Chelsea’s owners spent a British record of €121 million to sign Fernandez from SL Benfica in the last hours of the 2022-23 winter transfer window. However, Jorge D’Alessandro said that he offered both Barcelona and Real Madrid the opportunity to sign the Argentina international when the player was at River Plate.
“Terrible management errors by Real Madrid and Barcelona. Today, he is the best in the world in his position, I offered him [at] 10 million euros to Ramón Planes [former Barça technical secretary] and the Real Madrid staff. “Today they search and they will not find something like him. Other roles, but not a chief engineer,” he said, according to Sportskeeda.
