The Security Adviser to the Benue state Governor Col. Paul Hemba said one livestock guard has been killed in an ambush by bandits in Azongo, Mbalagh Council ward Makurdi, Benue state.
Col. Hemba while addressing newsmen in his office on Saturday said the attack left one Agro Ranger wounded and he is receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Makurdi.According to the security adviser, the unprovoked attack was carried out by people he described as armed bandits because they were not with any cattle.
The Commander said despite the attack, they are not deterred as they will continue to protect Benue’s land from suspected herdsmen who want to forcefully take it away. “Despite the continued killings of our members by armed bandits we have vowed that nobody can take our land and we shall protect Benue land with the last drop of our blood,” said the commander Livestock guard.
